Who doesn't love a good old-fashioned diner in the middle of a bleak and dusty road? The Halfway House Cafe out in Canyon Country is complete with friendly service and ironic and cheeky diner-humor signs. Come here and relax with a nice cold beverage after hiking the nearby Vasquez Rocks.

How Does Your Garden Grow?
I LOVE this idea for an herb garden which I spotted outside True Food Kitchen in Santa Monica. While this particular rolling garden is a bit pricey for my taste, how hard could it be to make something similar of your own?
Case In Point
My incredibly thoughtful boyfriend planned a surprise tour of the Eames house during my lunch break one day. After taking the 10 freeway and ending up on small road off of PCH, I still had no clue what he was leading me to, even as we walked up the driveway. There were no signs anywhere, as far as I could tell we were trespassing. It wasn't until I saw the boldly colorful squares that I immediately recognized the house which I had learned about and seen pictures of in almost every architecture course I had taken. The Eames house (aka Case Study House No. 8) is an icon of mid-century design and yet it sits very quietly and unassumingly on a shady hillside meadow overlooking the ocean. Unfortunately, photos of the interior are not allowed, but I will tell you that the fact that the home has pretty much been untouched since the 80's gives you a good insight into the architects'/homeowners' quirky and mod sense of style.

Hooked
These might look like random darts in the wall but they actually have a purpose. As coat hooks - neat!

The Wright Stuff
Not sure who designed this home in Los Feliz but I love anything that calls to mind the work of Frank Lloyd Wright.
**UPDATE** Researched this house more and discovered that it was designed by none other than Lloyd Wright (Frank Lloyd Wright's son), who clearly was very much inspired by his father's work. As an Architecture/Interior Design student, I feel quite proud of my observation.
